Sustainability Investment Analyst

Would you like to work within the BAE Systems Pensions Funds Investment Management Team? We currently have a vacancy for a Sustainability Investment Analyst at our site in Burwood House - Greater London.

You will be a part of BAE Systems Pension Funds Investment Management (BAPFIM), which is a leading in-house Pension Fund manager for BAE Systems Plc, managing over £30bn of assets. We invest and oversee a multi-asset, global investment portfolio spanning public and private markets. The team counts approx. 40 investment professionals and manages a diversified strategy with exposures across public and private equity and credit, government bonds, alternatives, and property.

As a Sustainability Investment Analyst, you will be responsible for accelerating the implementation of the firms' sustainability strategy. With an initial focus on stewardship activities, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in all Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) areas, including company and thematic research, tools development, as well as regular interaction with investors and Trustees.

This role is suited to suitable to an entrepreneurial person with a passion for sustainability and investing. The successful candidate will be part of the investment team, and report to the Head of Sustainable Investment partaking in all discussions and committees involving the Trustees on sustainability matters.

Your main responsibilities as a Sustainability Investment Analyst will involve:

  • Conducting company ESG engagements across listed equities and credit
  • Analysing company AGM voting resolutions and make recommendations to the team
  • Working closely with ESG datasets to update our existing ESG tools and models
  • Conducting ad-hoc company ESG research and present it to investors
  • Conducting meetings with external managers across our public and private markets portfolios
  • Contributing to the climate change analysis across the scheme in the context of TCFD reporting
  • Interacting with the investment team at weekly meetings and on ad-hoc basis
  • Preparing presentations for the ESG and Responsible Investment Committees
  • Suggesting improvements to our ESG frameworks and approaches

Your skills and qualifications:

  • Prior experience as an asset / investment analyst in an ESG/sustainability role
  • Proven experience in ESG, either through an investment angle, data provider working directly with the investment industry, or in extremis a consultancy
  • Proficient with MS Excel, PowerPoint, with market data tools (Bloomberg etc.), and ESG data providers (MSCI, Hermes, ISS, Sustainalytics, etc.)
  • Proven writing, speaking and presentation skills
  • Numerical, inquisitive, entrepreneurial
  • Degree qualified (finance preferably)
