Interim Management Accountant required for project accounting role in Halifax - til End September 2022

Your new role

The role takes responsibility for the financial management of projects and commercial services and partnerships and will contribute towards the timely production of the department's financial reports, budgets and cash flow forecasts. The post will be expected to work closely with both the CSP management team and the central finance team, providing financial support and advice, and ensuring the smooth running of the department's financial processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate financial information to assist the Director of Commercial Services and Partnerships manage the projects financial performance.
  • Understand, explain and present complex project financial data to the Unit Management Team identifying suitable solutions to resolve matters arising.
  • Support in the preparation of the management accounts for CSP.
  • Manage CSP's month end process in liaison with the Finance Team.
  • Produce monthly project and cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensure all financial procedures for the effective operational delivery of projects are in line with Financial policies and regulations
  • Engage effectively with all department staff to ensure all project forecasts and budgets are robust, with limited and quantified risk.
  • Ensure effective budgeting and budgetary control of all subcontracts managed by CSP.
  • Support new project and commercial development providing strong project financial planning.
  • Establish and maintain strong lines of communication with all staff within CSP and Finance.
  • Promote all projects and products of the department, and to act as an Ambassador for the department.
  • Adherence and compliance to all processes.

  • To carry out other relevant and appropriate duties - this may from time to time be specified either within the department or supporting the wider organisation.


What you'll need to succeed

You will ideally be a qualified accountant although part qualified and AAT will also be considered. You will need experience in the following areas.

  • Production of monthly management accounts
  • Production of financial forecasts
  • Production of rolling cash forecasts
  • Experience in the financial management of multiple projects and various funding streams
  • Production of project financial budgets and payment regimes
  • Experience of computerised accounts/finance systems
