Financial Controller

Heyland Finance have been engaged by our client, a PE backed, entrepreneurial SME professional services business based in Merseyside as they look to appoint a qualified Financial Controller to assist them in their next phase of growth.
Following a hugely successful year and significant investment in core areas, our client envisages a sizeable increase in revenue over the next 18 months therefore, require a technically competent senior finance professional to aid their highly achievable growth plans.

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Financial Controller will be responsible for delivering tight financial controls to help facilitate and achieve business objectives. You will manage the day to day running of the finance department, reviewing and developing existing processes and systems to ensure robust financial controls and maintain strong working relationships with all stakeholders and investors.

Responsibilities include;
* Financial Processes & Reporting - ensure the accuracy of all financial records using appropriate systems, processes & controls across the company including: production of management accounts, review of management accounts & report on variance analysis.
* Performance - work closely with the wider business to ensure the financial performance of the company is monitored & controlled in a fit for purpose manner
* Statutory - be responsible for ensuring that the company complies with all statutory & fiscal requirements
* Audit - lead & control the annual audit process
* Liaise with insurance providers to ensure adequate & cost-effective cover is maintained
* Co-ordinate and control the twice monthly customer billing process
* Responsible for the monthly employee payroll with the payroll bureau
* Liaise with advisors regarding the preparation & timely submission of all relevant tax computations i. CT, VAT, R&D rebates.
* Ensure that the Finance function operates effectively and complies with all appropriate regulations

Requirements;
* Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent
* Highly organized & self-motivated individual
* Experience of Sage 50 beneficial
* Excellent Excel skills
* Can effectively manage up & down with internal stakeholders
* Excellent time management skills, the ability to multitask & deliver to deadlines
* Exceptional communication skills & competent presenter
* Team player that is also happy to work independently

The ideal candidate will be an ACA, ACCA, CIMA Qualified Company Accountant who has previous experience of working within a growing SME business or subsidiary of a larger organisation.
