We are seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join an exciting high-profile global FMCG & Retail business based in Reading. Reporting to the Senior Financial Controller, you'll carry out a broad range period-close & reporting activities, frequently communicating reporting information to the wider business.

We are seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join an exciting high-profile global FMCG & Retail business based in Reading. Reporting to the Senior Financial Controller, you'll carry out a broad range period-close & reporting activities, frequently communicating reporting information to the wider business.

Description

You will be responsible for providing accurate and timely execution of general financial accounting, period end closing, and reporting activities, preparing financial statements and delivering reporting information to the wider Finance community in line with defined reporting protocols.

Key tasks will include:

  • Supporting a broad range of period-close activities including preparation of financial statements under FRS 102
  • Preparation of month end journals and supporting key financial reporting deliverables
  • Ownership of period end activities including Fixed Assets, Treasury and Cashflow reporting processes
  • Balance sheet account reconciliations using judgement to highlight and investigate key and unexpected variances providing supporting commentary when required
  • Participation in ad-hoc projects as and when they arise.
  • Identify and action process improvement initiatives and opportunities.

Profile

- Qualified accountant with a professional accounting body (preferably ACA or ACCA) - This role is well suited to an external Audit specialist seeking to make a first move into industry from practice.

- Ability to work unsupervised and deliver high quality work to tight deadlines.

- Good aptitude for financial systems and general accounting procedures.

- Awareness of current regulations including IFRS accounting standards

- Proficient in MS Office applications (particularly Excel).

- ERP software experience (e. Oracle, SAP or similar preferred but not essential).

- Knowledge & experience in the application of accounting standards and statutory accounting.

- Ability to work independently, deadline-focused and results driven, strong ability to bring about change, energetic and driven taking a hands-on approach and develops an atmosphere of confidence, respect, and trust, acts as a role model within the team, strong service and customer orientation.

- Knowledge of VAT, Asset Accounting and statutory reporting would be beneficial but not essential.
