A well-established firm of Chartered Accountants based in Chippenham are looking for a Tax Manager to join their successful and friendly team. Your new role
In your new role you will manage a varied client base made up of private clients, high net worth individuals with a diverse client base covering numerous industries and business entities. You will lead the tax department and offer day to day advice as well as provide a strategic vision on the business tax services. You will be involved in administration such as being responsible for ensuring reminders to clients for their corporation tax payments are sent and ensure all tax deadlines and compliance requirements are met for business clients. You will also be involved in the workflow with both business and personal clients to ensure all tax compliance work for all aspects of the tax function are scheduled and undertaken on a timely basis and allocated to an appropriate team member. On top of this, you will also have strategic responsibilities such as undertaking Ad hoc project and cross sell work of a tax nature as and when it arises. For example, advice on sale or purchase of a business, or share ownership assistance. Assist client managers in the quote setting of this work. Should this work be outside your skill set, ensure that the managing director is aware of all work undertaken by your chosen third party and all quotes and management of that work is agreed by the client. Also as a manager you will be assisting with the training of existing or new team members with their development.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed you will have excellent technical knowledge in tax compliance in addition to a working knowledge of managing a varied portfolio of tax clients. The successful candidate will come from a reputable practice and ideally posses tax planning experience and a CTA qualification. Applicants who are ACA/ACCA qualified with a mixed or corporate tax background gained within a busy tax department or ATT qualified with at least 5 years' experience will also be considered. Your previous experience in a similar role within an accountancy firm will allow you to understand the importance of managing a varied workload with strict deadlines, all whilst developing your commercial acumen and ability to spot additional opportunities for the firm. You must also be a team player, supportive and friendly as well as possessing excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. This role is largely client facing so you will be expected to build and maintain relationships, representing their interests using your professional expertise and commercial acumen.
