Head of Finance required for leading Surrey based Charity

Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA Accountant required

Client Details

A rewarding and highly thought of Charity are looking for a dynamic Head of Finance on a 6 months fixed term basis to head up their Finance function to deliver extraordinary service to the charity. As a qualified accountant you will be able to lead and motivate a team of 10 including the Payroll function. As well as leading the production of key financial management information and transactional processing, you will be a key part of the organisation's Leadership Group and have a passion for improving the lives of the people we support. In a very busy and varied environment you will lead by example and support the Finance Director with corporate governance. Description

To lead and motivate the finance team and deliver a high quality service to tight deadlines. To undertake all aspects of financial management as well as development and maintenance of internal controls, policies, systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the charity's finances and assets and compliance with regulations and legislation. To be a key player in the wider Leadership Group.

Recruit, develop and motivate the Finance and Payroll Team (10 headcount) to achieve their objectives and support the organisation. Oversee the operations of the teams by setting goals and objectives to deliver an excellent service to the organisation in line with strategy.

Provide the lead in the development of statutory reporting, management/financial accounting and reporting and provide guidance and advice on all operational finance matters to colleagues across the organisation.

Prepare the operational budget timetable and work with managers to enable the business to meet agreed deadlines.

Lead the preparation of the detailed annual budget and forecasts.

Manage all accounting operations including Financial Reporting, Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Payroll and other reimbursements, bank and balance sheet reconciliations. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and lead on the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, completeness and compliance with best practice, policies, regulations and legislation including VAT, PAYE, Pensions and Government Statistical Returns

Perform cash and liquidity management to minimise the charity's probability of losses and maximise returns within agreed policies. Submit reports of present financial situation and forecasts

Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of charity finances is maintained reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities and support procurement activities relevant papers for Council and Committee meetings.

ACCA/CIMA/ACA Qualified Accountant

In depth knowledge of Financial and Management Accounting Systems

Charity SORP accounting

Social Care tendering and fee models (desirable but not essential)

A good communicator, capable of developing close and effective working relationships with a wide range of

non-finance and executive stakeholders
