FD Recruit are working exclusively with a rapidly growing start up high tech engineering & manufacturing business to source a commercially focussed, yet hands-on, permanent Finance Director.


This is a fantastic opportunity for a Financial Controller to either take on your first number 1 role or for an experienced FD to join a business at an exciting time in it's growth journey and make a significant strategic and commercial contribution and help shape the company for sustainable growth and success.


Reporting to, and working in conjunction with a Managing Director, who is highly driven and passionate about the business, the FD will be instrumental in streamlining and improving processes across the organisation with a focus on total business development and growth, and to compliment and challenge the MD's skillset.

My client is looking for an experienced and hands on individual, who will be comfortable with managing and contributing to the day-to-day aspects of the finance function. To report and enhance margins and cash flow by increasing both the understanding of financial dynamics of the Company's activities and its ability to achieve growth. To ensure sound accounting and cash management. To provide effective leadership and direction to the Finance department and Leadership Team. Work closely together with the Division and parent international company with responsible for maintaining and enhancing the quality and reliability of IT infrastructure.

Key duties will encompass:

  • Provide commercial and financial insight, support, management and control for the Leadership
  • Team, the Divisional Management and the Board.
  • Work in partnership with the business to support enhanced profit through sales and margin growth with cost containment.
  • Lead financial planning and management and manage and co-ordinate annual budget process.
  • To control all financial transactions and accountancy matters, including audit systems.
  • To ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met regarding all the company's financial affairs and ensure filings are completed in a timely manner.
  • Oversee import and export compliance and ensure relevant returns are filed
  • Managing company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation and equity
  • Managing post acquisition integration as appropriate.
  • Oversee the audit (statutory and internal)
  • Review and analyse the audit results and recommend approval the audited financial statements
  • Manage the key external financial relationships
  • Provide cash flow forecasting and maintain a long-term cash forecast
  • Responsible for management reporting
  • Present period and year-to-date financial reports with accompanying analyses
  • KPI reports and commentary according to Group and Divisional requirements and rules
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as required
  • Manage the production of the Statutory Accounts and the accompanying Notes to the Accounts.
  • Formulate financial targets and budgets in accordance with the strategy determined by the Board
  • Manage IT needs in co-operation with the IT Assistant, Group IT and external service providers
  • Lead accounting, controlling and risk discussions in the Management Team and offer direction
  • Represent the Finance Department in the Management Team meetings


About you:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with at least 5+ years' experience in senior finance positions
  • Significant involvement in the preparation, management, monitoring and control of large and complex budgets.
  • Experience of working for manufacturing or high tech engineering organisation in an international environment / Group environment would be preferred.
  • An excellent understanding of budgeting and financial management at a corporate level.
  • Proven Leadership and management skills and the ability to motivate staff effectively at all levels.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrate high standards of personal integrity and professionalism behaving fairly with others and building and maintaining trust respect and credibility.
  • Responds positively and works constructively under pressure conditions.
  • Demonstrable excellent analytical skills for strategic problem solving and decision making.
  • Ability to speak Business French and having an MBA would be a distinct advantage.
