Rowan Executive Search has been retained by a successful, private equity backed, multi-sited group, which offers a range of value added services to the distribution sector.

With revenues rapidly approaching £50 million, the business has demonstrated a strong track record of success. As part of the group’s long-term plan to create a Board that can achieve a successful exit pathway for investors, the business seeks to appoint a Finance Director to operate as the MD’s ‘right hand’, whilst ensuring that divisional Directors receive collaborative support by Finance and true business partnering, as it embarks on the execution of its growth strategies.

In a newly created role, the incoming Finance Director will provide assurance and an excellent understanding of business performance, take responsibility for leading and mentoring the finance function to ensure it operates as a value-add department.

Critical impact areas for the incoming Finance Director will include:-

  • Establishing himself or herself as a trusted partner of the Board and Senior Management Team, supporting the execution of the strategic objectives and playing a key role in shaping the business and its Board for the future.
  • Reviewing the existing financial systems, processes and controls, ensuring they are streamlined across the group. Implementing the necessary changes to improve the flow of management information, drive efficiencies and create automation to support the short, medium and long-term strategies.
  • Acting as a trusted business partner to the wider business driving accountability for performance and challenging and advising in a collaborative manner. Ability to adapt his or her approach to quickly establish a rapport with all employees and capture engagement that will positively impact the organisation. 
  • Investigating opportunities for further growth and expansion, providing detailed financial modelling on viability, impacts and potential risks.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a track record of success driving growth within am ambitious organisation. He or she must enjoy being ‘hands on and immersing themselves in the detail whilst also being comfortable assuming a strategic leadership position.
