Our client, is a recently established (VC) investment vehicle. They currently support three ambitious entrepreneurial businesses in their portfolio. In line with their growth plans, our client wants to recruit a Commercially oriented Finance Director to focus on the financial management of the overall Group, and on the commercial growth of the Groups’ Partnership companies.

You will support deal due diligence, structuring and execution, along with equity placements, and investment strategy considering tax and risk. Thus, the successful Candidate will need to see the role from the ground up, with a focus on creating watertight financial controls, alongside robust and meaningful reporting, and analysis. This will enable the Management team and the FD to make sound investment and deal decisions based on clarity of position.

Key responsibilities:

  • You will act as a Commercial Finance Director and strategic business partner to the Executive team.
  • Create a cohesive Finance function by implementing reporting, analysis, and investment procedures and processes, to drive sound decision making while managing risk.
  • Participate in pivotal Group and portfolio decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives, the investments, and operational models.
  • Lead or support any strategic partnerships or syndicated fundraising. Managing the capital requests on behalf of existing investments.
  • Assess and evaluate the financial performance of the Group and its portfolio relating to long-term goals, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans.
  • Develop advantageous financial and tax strategies, working with third party advisors as relevant.

Your profile

  • A CFO/ FD at a fast-growing technology-driven business, as well as strong familiarity with revenue recognition, relevant metrics, and best practice.
  • Leading a significant fundraise in a VC (or PE) backed environment.
  • Experience with a range of different business models ideally SAAS, but experience with B2B, Data Analytics, Consumer Digital Platforms business models, or broad technology [not limited to the Technology sector] also a plus.
  • Sound technical knowledge - qualified accountant.
  • Commercial gravitas – will need to work alongside the CEO negotiating with customers, suppliers etc. so commercial acumen is essential.
  • Track record of developing and implementing systems, tools and processes to increase business clarity and operational scale.
