This successful business has grown steadily and achieved £25m turnover last year with healthy profits. Operating in the FMCG sector they supply a portfolio of products and services to retailers both in UK and increasingly overseas. Led by an experienced and ambitious management team they supply high volumes of products from their large distribution centre on the Fylde Coast and are recognised as being both an innovative and environmentally conscious employer in the area.
As part of their longer term succession plan they now have a unique opportunity for an ambitious Management Accountant to join the organisation with a career path to become Financial Controller (no.1 in finance) upon retirement of the FD. This role would suit someone willing to learn all aspects of a business including warehousing, logistics, supply chain etc. to enable them to become a more rounded and commercially focussed Financial Controller in the future. Full training will be provided by an experienced Finance Director who will expect you to be driven, quick to learn and able to challenge. You will have access to all the Directors both in the UK and at the parent company and must therefore be a credible and confident communicator eager to impress and make the most of this major opportunity.
Suitable candidates would ideally be at least AAT qualified or part / fully qualified CIMA / ACCA with experience from a similar role and a good level of management accounting experience. Attitude and potential will be also be taken into consideration along with evidence of accounting ability. The key area’s of responsibility for this role will include:
- Preparation of monthly accounts
- Responsibility for month end
- Reports & analysis on Power BI
- Assisting with bi-annual forecasts
- Assisting with annual budgets
- Year-end accounts and annual audit
- Monthly reporting on invoice factoring
- Oversight of credit control / purchase ledger
- Stock management
This will be an office based role as you will be expected to liaise closely with other departments and get to know the whole business. The FD is keen to start delegating duties as soon as possible so you can expect a rapid learning curve and as much responsibility as your competency can handle! There will be plenty of scope for project work such as looking at costings and profitability, in addition to supporting the on going development of new reports and systems. A high level of IT ability, particularly Excel would therefore be very useful.
If you are looking for a challenging new accountancy role with defined progression and scope for recognition then please provide your CV without delay.
