Property Accountant - Private PropCo - OUR CLIENT is a well-established property company with the backing of a Family Office - and concentrate on commercial private property investment / asset management and development. As they continue to grow and increase their assets under management, they have instructed us to help them employ an experienced and results orientated Property Accountant to help ensure that best practice is adopted and systems are enhanced to provide quality, timely financial information and join the driven and collegiate team in London.

 

THE ROLE: Reporting to and closely working with heads of finance, you will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparing quarterly/monthly management accounts with commentary on key variances.
  • Summarising key financial information for reporting.
  • Working with property management team to Agree annual budgets and charge tenants accordingly.
  • Calculating year end balancing charges and invoice tenants, including liaison with auditors as appropriate.
  • Preparing quarterly service charge review schedules and arranging meeting with property management team to discuss.
  • Handling ad-hoc tenant service charge queries.
  • Ensuring rates are properly mitigated where possible.
  • Being point of contact for external rating consultants, including verifying all requests for payment of rates.
  • Liaising with local authorities regarding rating matters.
  • Ensuring compliance reporting required by the bank and compilation of compliance certificates
  • Preparing annual statutory accounts and managing/ involving to the audit process.
  • Preparing finance sections of board packs relating to your companies where required.
  • Preparing budgets/forecasts.
  • Preparing VAT/CIS returns (or the review thereof) in line with statutory obligations.
  • Liaising with tax advisors / FC to produce tax computations.
  • Managing the accounts receivable and accounts payable process.

 

THE PERSON: To apply, ideally you will be a qualified or part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) although strong QBE's will be considered. It is essential you have gained your experience working within the property sector over a minimum of 2-3 years developing your ability to provide both core accounting and finance support to the business. It is expected that you will possess a good working knowledge of property systems such as QUBE, TRAMPS, YARDI or similar and that you will be confident producing management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations. Also, you should be a proficient and confident user of Excel and be capable of working with financial models. It would be beneficial if you also have experience producing service charge budgets and it is highly desirable that you possess a working knowledge of VAT and Corporation tax.
