Accountant / Client Service Manager  /  Financial Controller

When you join Finling, you become part of a team delivering ingenious accounting for ambitious entrepreneurs. We fuse the best elements of working in industry with the best elements of working in practice, so that you have the most fulfilling career possible.

You join a team that really cares about your next career move and will enable you to learn and grow as an accounting professional.

You will be part of a team that cares passionately for its clients. We focus on a smaller number of deep relationships with clients, providing both their finance team, and their compliance and advisory services.  This is very different from the traditional “transactional” relationships you can find between practice and client.

At the same time, you get exposure to a range of clients, and can learn from the technical and operational challenges posed by each.  This is one of the great advantages of being in practice.  But without the timesheets and the billing pressure.

You will have the choice to work flexibly, from home on Mondays and Fridays, if you wish, and in the office for everyone Tuesday to Thursday.  You can also vary your hours around our core hours of 10am to 4pm, setting the work pattern that fits best with your own life.

We also have a very comprehensive benefits package designed to support you to achieve a work-life balance, and to look after you through good times and bad, not to mention a bonus scheme and a share scheme.

You will be:

  • Managing a team of 8 - 10 members of staff, and you will be actively involved in recruitment and decision making
  • You will look after the training and development of more junior team members, including guiding them as they progress through the professional qualifications
  • We will look to you to review and propose amended financial controls and processes to enhance the integrity and efficiency of the work we do
  • You will review the work of team members before transmission to the client and be accountable for the quality of work
  • This will include reviewing VAT returns before submission to HMRC for all practice clients
  • And conducting period end reviews and preparation of bespoke reports packs, ensuring that client requirements and reporting deadlines are met
  • For some clients there is a need to liaise with third party auditors or other advisors
  • You will often be referred to when the team is thinking about how best to account for more complex transactions

Technology and Training

  • Finling uses Xero and Dext, together with a range of add-ons in order for our clients to benefit from the most modern technical environment
  • We will ensure that you become familiar with this software stack so that you can contribute to possible automations, error correction routines, and integration opportunities

What we need you, the Accounts Team Manager to be/have:

Required

  • Have very good knowledge of FRS 102/ UK GAAP
  • Someone with experience of managing, training and supporting a team
