Your new role

Southend Borough Council is seeking to recruit a Finance Business Partner within the Corporate Finance team. Reporting to the Finance Development Manager to support the Strategic Change and Governance directorate and lead a small team of financial analysts delivering a comprehensive Financial Management and Business Partnering service. You will deliver comprehensive and insightful analysis of spend and income against budget plans. You will work closely with Directors and Heads of Service, to ensure high support, professional challenge and compliance in shaping future service delivery.

You will also support the council in the production of the Statement of Accounts, Government returns and the Medium Term Financial Forecasts.

The Finance Business Partner will be expected to build trust and professional credibility with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure financial insight and advice adds value, resources are targeted to deliver better outcomes and facilitates the achievement of Southend-on-Sea's 2050 ambition


What you'll need to succeed

You must be a qualified accountant (CCAB) Accountant and have experience is a large or complex organisation, and strong technical skills. A high level of EXCEL skills are crucial, You must be professional and confident in discussions with all members of the Council and external parties.

What you'll get in return

They are offering a competitive salary from £39,571 - £45,648 dependant on expertise. However, this role offers the opportunity for candidates with a broad depth of experience in relevant areas of the role to be offered from £45,859 - £50,840. For all successful candidates a career development plan is in place to ensure there are opportunities to develop further.
