Financial Accountant

Financial Accountant required for a prestigious and well established client near Warrington. This client is a well known, household name and has an excellent reputation for staff development combined with a fantastic office culture. They are now looking to bring in a Financial Accountant as part of a high performing and well regarded finance team in what is a newly created role. Based in Warrington (with hybrid working available) the offices are world class and offer the successful candidate an opportunity to be part of a rewarding and meritocratic environment. 

This is a brilliant role for an ambitious Financial Accountant looking for their first move from practice or a qualified accountant looking for a financial accounting role. 

This role will be officially based at the Warrington Head office but the client has embraced hybrid working and the successful candidate will be able to work from home for part of the week. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and delivery of audits
  • Assist with the production of year end statutory accounts as well as a consolidated balance sheet for management purposes throughout the year.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of all external financial and statutory returns
  • To assist in maintaining and developing strong control processes to ensure data quality and accuracy and completeness of accounting ledgers
  • Provide a financial due diligence service to the Group and subsidiary Companies – be the main point of contact and maintain a complete and up to date due diligence review checklist.
  • Assist in capital and cash flow reporting.
  • Keep up to date with Statutory Financial reporting requirements
  • Work with the Finance Manager to monitor all of the balance sheet ensuring all of the control account reconciliations are complete and accurate and items dealt with on systematic basis. This will include undertaking major balance sheet reconciliations and reporting.
  • To provide training to finance and non finance staff where needs are identified.
  • To provide professional advice, guidance and information to Senior Managers, staff and to external bodies as required.
  • Ensure that stakeholders are clear on Financial Regulations and Financial Compliance procedures. Monitor compliance and escalate any issues to Senior managers as appropriate
  • Identify and recommend system /process improvements. Play an active part in their implementation.


Key Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant 
  • Excellent technical accounting skills
  • Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail
  • Understanding and interpreting financial and non-financial information provided by a variety of sources
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written, including the ability to communicate with non-finance staff
  • Able to lead by example by having a “hands on” approach
  • Able to assimilate facts quickly and respond appropriately
  • Able to prioritise work load, meet deadlines and work on own initiative
  • Proactive, willing to question working practices and initiate change
  • Ability to work as part of a team, and also with the minimum of supervision, if required
  • Willingness to help seek efficiencies through improvement of current systems/processes
  • Good Evaluation and problem solving skills
  • Strong IT skills and excellent working knowledge of MS applications including Excel and Teams
