A Management Accountant role is needed for an 18 month FTC at a pharmaceutical company.

The role is hybrid and based in Central London.

Details:

The Management Accountant (MA) is part of a team of MAs responsible for the delivery of the integrity of the General Ledgers, sub ledgers and Group reporting. The Management Accounting team plays an important part in ensuring UK group compliance with financial internal controls. This role is a backfill FTC role to enable the permanent staff to work on implementing new initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver period end reporting: As part of the Financial Control team, the core objective is to deliver all relevant outputs for the group's reporting calendar for local management and Sonic group, including the month end reporting pack (MRP), half-year and annual GRP and associated schedules, Executive and Board packs, and any analysis associated with it.
  • Monitor and report on compliance with internal controls: The MA is responsible for supporting the SMA and FCs in ensuring evidentiary compliance with all elements of internal control obligations, such as documented reviews of GL reconciliations, reviews of master data and the timely reporting and escalation of any internal control issues.
  • The MA will be expected to support the overall team objectives and not constrain themselves to their allocated deliverables.

Manage the General Ledgers and financial statements:

  • Work with the SMA to deliver the allocated accounting of the monthly profit and loss accounts and balance sheets for the group, ensuring consistency and accuracy, identifying any prepayments or accruals required for month end reporting including journaling correcting entries for reallocations when identified.
  • Prepare and document monthly balance sheet reconciliations including backing schedules and relevant breakdowns, having such schedules in an "audit-ready" state at all times.
  • Contribute to the preparation of quarterly reconciliations to identify transactions that should be recharged between companies within the Group. An understanding of the contractual agreements in place will be required to be able to successfully track and recharge intercompany cross charges to the preparation of divisional profit and loss accounts including commentary for reporting to the Board.
  • Business knowledge: Liaise with staff across the business as necessary to understand any material movements in management accounts compared to budget and document the understanding on a monthly basis in the format of management commentary.
  • Budgets and forecasts: Contribute to the preparation of the annual budgets and forecasts. Ensure the integrity of reported data linking back to these documents at all times.
  • Processes and continuous improvement: The MA should have the overriding objective to constantly review and improve the work done within their portfolio and the team.
  • Year-end: Work with the SMA and external providers in the preparation of financial statements and annual tax compliance packs.
  • Audits: Manage deliverables for and liaise with external and internal auditors as required.
  • SOPs: Contribute to keeping current the standard operating procedures for the team.
  • HMRC: Contribute to the completion of the monthly CIS return and assist with the preparation of VAT returns and ONS returns.
  • Ad hoc tasks as required by the SMA
