The purpose of the role is to carry out first line risk-based assurance reviews that add value and provide assurance and oversight over key risks faced by the Finance Division to senior management.

Description
Develop and deliver a risk-based 'first line' assurance plan, designed to add value and to provide assurance over key risks, leading to an effective control environment within the Finance Division.
Prepare and issue high quality first line assurance reports to senior management that record the findings and recommendations to remedy risk and control weaknesses in accordance with group and departmental standards, regulatory requirements and SLAs.
Provide assurance input into Divisional change programmes, projects or activities as required in partnership with Group Portfolio Management, and other relevant stakeholders, to facilitate the effective identification and management of transition risk and risk resulting from project / programme deviation leading to the Target Control Environment.
Develop an enhanced control framework in collaboration with Group Compliance, Group Internal Audit and Prudential Compliance & Operational Risk, particularly in the event of a UK version of Sarbanes Oxley being introduced.
Perform assurance activity where risk events & near misses have occurred, leading to the identification & implementation of an enhanced control environment & non-recurrence of issues.
Support the development of appropriate departmental controls and KCIs, identifying where there are gaps and advise on the appropriate course of action to remedy.
Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues in Group Compliance, Group Internal Audit and Prudential Compliance & Operational Risk to promote collaborative working and to provide appropriate, co-ordinated assurance activity within the Finance Division.
Support, recommend responses and track outcomes from Group Compliance, Group Internal Audit and Prudential Compliance & Operational Risk reviews and external bodies.
Deliver short term / one off projects and activities as required by and to the standards and outcomes agreed with your Line Manager.
Profile
Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CIA) or equivalent which may include:
- Institute of Risk Management (IRMCert)
- Chartered Institute of Insurance to Advanced Diploma level
- ACA (Association of Chartered Accountants)
- CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants).
- ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
Experience and Knowledge
· Experience of risk-based auditing
· Experience of Sarbanes Oxley (desirable)
· Report writing and presentation skills
· Experience of managing and influencing stakeholders
· Experience of working in a regulated environment (desirable)
· Knowledge of financial services (FCA regulation desirable)
· MS Office - competent in Microsoft office systems - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
