fdu is recruiting a Group Financial Accountant (12-month fixed term maternity contract) for a rapidly scaling technology business (currently c£200m t/o) who are backed by a highly successful private equity firm.

Overview

The role will include involvement in a wide range of tasks including consolidated reporting for a group of approximately 20 entities, working with external auditors on interim and year-end audit programmes to achieve timely preparation, review and filing of statutory accounts, and review of period end fixed asset process such as additions, transfers, disposals and depreciation.

Key responsibilities

  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts under IFRS and UK GAAP (FRS 101).
  • Periodic review of accounting policies and procedures including internal controls.
  • Provide in-house technical accounting advice on both IFRS and UK GAAP (FRS 101).
  • Developing the right accounting policies and treatments and defend them to the Auditors
  • Liaison and coordination with the external auditors as part of the year-end close process.
  • Review of period end fixed asset processes.
  • Assisting the management accounting team in aspects of the month-end close (balance sheet reconciliations, month-end journal entries such as depreciation, etc).
  • Working with the Cost Manager to monitor and review fixed asset additions, transfers, disposals and depreciation.
  • Working with the parent company group finance function for any other reporting requirements and ad hoc requests.

Candidate profile

  • Qualified Accountant – preferably ACA or ACCA (PQE minimum 3 years) with an Audit background.
  • Previous experience in a similar Financial (Technical) Accounting role where you have worked very closely to the audit process.
  • Sound technical knowledge, demonstrating a good breadth and depth of IFRS technical knowledge; you must be able to help contribute to developing the right accounting policies and treatments and defend them to the auditors
  • Good communication skills and comfortable with regular exposure to senior management
  • Experience of working with SAGE 200 and SAP S/4 Hana accounting systems beneficial as is a familiarity with technology/capital intensive businesses advantageous.

Ideally you will need to start by the beginning of August. Our client operates a hybrid working model: 1-2 days in the office per week.
