Central London - hybrid working model

- To fully support the Head of Financial Management and Finance Business Partners in carrying out financial management and accounting services, providing a professional, high quality and responsive finance service that supports and promotes efficient and effective service delivery.
- Take responsibility for elements of the production of annual statutory financial accounts, estimates/ budgets and in-year reports ensuring they meet the required standards and timescales.
- To promote sound financial management and control within MOPAC, liaising with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders across MOPAC and the GLA family as necessary.
- To contribute and oversee the development of MOPAC procedures, policy and practice, ensuring compliance with accounting codes of practice and statutory requirements.
- Oversee segments of, and deliver, the medium-term financial plan and actively promote this strategy across MOPAC and to act in accordance with the corporate objectives of the medium term financial plan.
The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.
MOPAC are looking to recruit two accountants to work with a variety of stakeholders within the organisation. Supporting the Finance Business Partners in ensuring the effective financial management of often complex budgets, you will be responsible for elements of the production of annual statutory financial accounts, annual budget and monthly forecast reports ensuring they meet the required standards and timescales. Either a qualified or part qualified accountant, you will be expected to foster good working relationships, inputting into the drafting of briefings and decisions, and other key documents in support of the Police and Crime Plan. Contributing to the ongoing evolution of the finance operating model, you will have responsibility for drafting policies and procedures to support that process and ensuring their effective implementation. Political Restriction
Political Restriction; under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011) all members of staff of MOPAC will be politically restricted without the right to apply for an exemption.
Security Vetting Clearance
The successful candidates will be expected to undergo the necessary security vetting which may take around 8 weeks to be completed. Applicants will also need to have resided in the UK continuously for at least the last three years.

Where are we based?
We have moved to a hybrid working model with office hubs at Union Street (near London Bridge) and Newlands Park (postcode SE26). On average staff will work 1-2 days a week from an Office Hub, but this may differ depending on the role requirements.
