The purpose of the role is to assist the Financial Accountant with financial reporting and statutory accounting activities, taking the lead on specific activities and seeing them through to completion. You will support the company's financial reporting activities with a focus on daily management reporting and month-end activities. This requires accuracy and the ability to meet deadline. You will also escalate issues in a proactive manner to ensure effective resolution. The Finance team works with all the departments within the business, as well as the Executive Committee to provide financial, regulatory and management information for decision making that drives overall business strategy.

Duties:

  • Prepare monthly management reporting including P&L and Balance sheet along with the reporting pack
  • Produce daily financial reports to assist the Management Team on items such as income and balance sheet
  • Analyse key income items to explain movements to the Executive and Heads of Business Units
  • Deliver the half-year and full-year group reporting packs, ensuring accuracy of output and adherence to review processes
  • Preparation of the annual financial statements and assisting in ensuring an effective and issue-free external audit
  • Involvement with Corporation tax and VAT processes
  • Improve and run the production processes of the balance sheet reconciliations
  • Continuously enhance key processes to improve efficiency
  • Produce the valuation of the portfolio of investment securities
  • Assist with managing the financial software including general ledger, financial statement production, FlexCube and other key systems
  • Assist the Financial Accountant with ad hoc analysis to support the financial management of the business



Person/Experience required:

  • Newly qualified accountant from a recognised accountancy body such as ACCA, CIMA or ACA
  • 3-4 years' experience of banking and lending businesses is beneficial but not essential



Key Skills:

  • Good understanding of IFRS accounting standards
  • Microsoft Office Systems knowledge especially Excel
  • Familiarity with Sage accounting software
  • Processing and procedural Knowledge
