Rent Accountant - Residential Real Estate. OUR CLIENT has an excellent record of growth and delivery within the PRS / Residential real estate market and with strong capital / PE backing continues to be a leader in UK-based residential property Investment. As a result of continued portfolio growth and an aggressive expansionary policy, they are currently seeking an additional experienced Rent Accountant to join the Finance Team. Working alongside existing Rent Accountants, the role will provide support to the Financial Controller and the broader finance team.

 

THE ROLE: This is a very varied role and includes the following duties:

  • Liaising with rental housing managers internally and externally ensuring transactions posted are reconciled appropriately.
  • Assisting in maintenance of rent ledger and responsible for posting rent journals to general ledger, along with servicing Rent email inbox.
  • Supporting the Service Charge team to post annual service charge actuals and updating rent ledger for correct service charge amounts to tenants.
  • Ownership of Net Operating Income - P&L lines relating to rent and service charge income, posting accruals and prepayments when appropriate plus reviewing accounts to ensure high degree of posting accuracy.
  • Providing Financial Controller with rent receipts data for quarterly reporting to the lenders.
  • Completing and maintaining monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of Shared Ownership Direct Debit payment file to ensure correct rents captured timely from tenants, as well as maintaining and reconciling cash book entries.
  • Working closely with Management Accounts and Accounts Payable teams to ensure smooth running of month-end processes.
  • Supporting the year end statutory accounts production and audit process.
  • Preparing and formatting ad hoc reports and analysis on request.
  • Undertaking general rent team related administrative tasks as required.

 

THE PERSON: To apply, you must be a part or newly qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent). Preferably you should experience in residential property - ideally PRS or residential homes and have had prior exposure to rent ledgers and cashbooks / reconciliations. You must have excellent knowledge of Excel and solid spreadsheeting skills and possess good attention to detail and be accurate too.
