The Role

This is a new opportunity for an International Financial Controller, reporting to the Global Controller, to oversee and lead the international accounting team centralised in the West Midlands. You will be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for this privately owned, PE-backed, emerging business, in particular its business segments across EMEA. This role manages the international accounting operations of the company.

You will be responsible for the timely production of financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk & ensure that reported results comply with accounting principles (GAAP), statutory reporting and where applicable, international financial reporting standards.

You will also have responsibility to support newly acquired businesses through the integration process.

You will oversee the day-to-day international financial operations, including accounting, payroll, reporting, accounts payable and accounts receivables and support and lead the international accounting department.

You will partner closely with other Business Unit finance teams to drive efficiency and standardisation in financial processes, to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results to support executive decisions.

Develop effective & efficient accounting processes and systems to form a cohesive, financially streamlined company and to support the timely financial close of the entities international business. This will include involvement with the implementation of a new ERP system.

Serve as primary liaison between international tax advisors and the company for international tax compliance and reporting.

Candidate Profile

For this International Financial Controller opportunity in the West Midlands, you must be a qualified accountant (preferably ACA, or ACCA) with significant post-qualified experience. Ideally you will have trained in the profession, and now with several years industry experience, including excellent team leadership experience.

Experience working for a multi-site, international company is essential.

A successful track record in establishing high performing finance teams within a dynamic and commercial environment will be important, and a hands-on operating style

Financial Controller or equivalent experience is highly desirable and with a good track record in developing and maintaining a first-class control environment. It will also be important that you can demonstrate robust up-to-date accounting standards knowledge and excellent technical skills (GAAP and IFRS). Solid knowledge of US GAAP also desirable.

You must be someone who thrives in a transformational environment, building best-in-class processes. Prior integration experience will also be advantageous.

Must possess excellent organisational and people skills, with the confidence to express opinions clearly, and the ability to translate complex financial matters in a concise and meaningful way.

Proactive attitude - ability to improve performance and processes

Ideally you will have hands-on experience of ERP systems and some prior involvement with an implementation
