Senior Governance Officer to working with a public sector organisation for a 6 month FTC based in Birmingham.

Your new company

You will be working for a public sector organisation who are responsible for driving economic growth across Birmingham and surrounding areas. They are responsible for funding some of the major infrastructure and building programmes in Birmingham along with now working more closely with other development bodies the region.

Your new role


To support the Head of Governance ensuring that the organisation meets high standards of governance and probity in all its activities, providing excellent administrative support to the Board and Leadership team.

Support the Head of Governance, ensuring that all constitutional and regulatory requirements are adhered to effectively.

Work with external parties, including lawyers and government officials, local and national, as directed by the Head of Governance. Promote and support high standards of corporate governance including keeping up to date with changes and developments.

Maintain registers updating changes recording signed documents and storing appropriately

Assist with the management of the signature of key commercial documents, ensuring completed documents are retained in safe manner in accordance with the Document Retention Policy

Maintenance of the log of data privacy impact assessments and initiating reminders to ensure these are regularly reviewed Support the production of Board and committee papers.

Deputise for the Head of Governance in their absence.

Work with colleagues to ensure that the organisation is seen as a fair, respectful, open, honest and accountable organisation which values its employees.

Act at all times within the organisations rules, policies, procedures, standing orders, financial regulations, health and safety legislation, and adhere to legislative and regulatory requirements. Undertake such other tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Head of Governance and Chief Operating Officer.

Review documents for completeness

Submit documents for filing Control flow of documents between the organisation and accountable body

Review documents for tone of voice, uniformity and conformity Maintenance of register of interests Maintenance of hospitality register Maintenance of documents - recording signed documents and storing appropriately

Maintenance of the log of data privacy impact assessments

Control update and management of organization changes


What you'll need to succeed

We are looking for people who have got audit, risk, government and compliance experience in ideally in a public sector organisation
You ideally will have strong enterprise risk management experience
Experience in risk in business activities such as tupe / redundancy
Experience of liaising with legal professionals.


What you'll get in return

On offer is a salary up to 48,852 + 29 days leave plus 8 days bank holiday, hybrid working 60/40 weighted to home., a very generous local government pension scheme.
Whilst the role is for a 6 month period, the role may be required past this time also.
