The Role

A fantastic chance to join a strong Transactional Finance Team. The team runs the Accounts Payable and Credit control functions for Kaplan International Languages as well as a shared services AP function for other Kaplan Businesses. You will be one of three Transactional Finance managers with a primary focus on leading and developing the AP team and processes whilst also having the opportunity to be involved with other areas of the team. Reporting to the Head of Transactional Finance this will be a great opportunity to gain experience as a manager whilst learning from a wide variety of experienced staff.

Role Purpose

  • Dealing with Accounts Payable within a team of 3 Transactional Finance Managers.
  • Managing 4 Accounts Assistants in our AP team.
  • Leading on the development of our shared service AP function and streamlining AP processes across all entities.
  • Covering management of AR team when needed.

Responsibilities

  • 4 Direct Reports, covering a minimum of 4 AP ledgers
  • Approval and transfer of multiple multi-currency payment runs
  • Conducting due diligence on New Suppliers and ensuring correct VAT treatment
  • Regular review of Accounts Payable Ledgers
  • Responsible for the training of new and existing staff
  • Working alongside other Transactional Finance Managers in team KPI management
  • Process improvement and alignment across Shared Service AP function
  • Co-ordinating and resolving queries, issues and concerns within your area of responsibility, escalating queries that need management decisions or are outside your scope of responsibility.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Extensive experience in the AP function of a high-volume Accounts Payable Team
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Good knowledge of and experience of working with accounting principles.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high volume, transaction orientated environment.
  • Strong Leader
  • Significant experience working under pressure meeting strict deadlines.
  • Experience using multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Intermediate Excel knowledge (V Lookups, pivot tables, formatting of data…)
  • Team player with flexibility to support in urgent task completion where required
  • Strong client focus and good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Accurate and attentive to detail
