Head of Finance vacancy, Sheffield, paying up to £55,000 p/a + excellent benefits - starting April 2023

Your new company
I'm pleased to be working on an exclusive, retained basis with a leading Sheffield based £25m t/o SME within the retail and wholesale industry. A unique business in their own right, they are market leaders in the field with a strong customer base.

Your new role
Following the impending retirement of the current Finance Director, my client are looking to appoint a Head of Finance starting in late March/early April 2023. This is an exciting, influential and 'hands on' position reporting directly to the Managing Director, delivering strong financial management strategy and overseeing an established team of 5 finance professionals.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance of accurate accounting records.
  • Preparation of timely and accurate information for management.
  • Co-ordination and preparation of financial forecasts and budgets.
  • Preparation and timely submission of statutory financial information.
  • Credit Management.
  • Preparation and timely submission of statutory returns.
  • Control over company's Treasury and Investment Portfolio.
  • Administration of Company Pension Scheme.
  • Management of company's rental interests.
  • Company Secretarial matters.
  • Computer systems.
  • Payroll duties.
  • To be engaged as generally required.
  • Management of the accounts team of 5 longstanding, experienced staff members.


What you'll need to succeed
One of the key skills and characteristics my client is looking for with this position is experience in a similar senior post, as well as strong people management skills.

You will ideally be a qualified accountant however applications are welcomed from individuals with excellent experience relative to the role (ideally 10+ years operating at a senior level).
The organisation are keen to invest in the business moving forwards with a view to upgrading their current finance system, so would welcome someone with previous systems implementation/upgrade experience, alongside excellent Excel and database skills.

You will have strong financial reporting background, coupled with technical and analytical skillset. You will be able to demonstrate outstanding communication skills and the ability to develop strong relationships both internal and external at all hierarchical levels of the organisation.

Package:

  • Up to £55,000 depending on experience
  • Pension - 12% (7% employee, 5% employer)
  • 35 days holiday per annum (inclusive of Bank Holidays) with 2 days to be retained for Christmas shutdown
