Wakefield Grammar School Foundation is one of the country’s leading families of single-sex independent day schools. The Foundation’s aim is to develop and maintain inspirational learning environments at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield Girls’ High School and Wakefield Grammar Pre-Preparatory School, with the schools focused towards the distinctive needs of boys and girls.

The Head of Finance role:
- Reporting to a highly experienced Director of Finance & Operations you will lead a committed and knowledgeable Finance team.
- This is a role with significant responsibility and independence.
- You will be working with colleagues from across the Foundation, including the Board of Governors, and will have a real chance to make a contribution to the Foundation’s aim of delivering an inspirational learning experience to around 1750 pupils.
- You will take a lead in managing senior internal stakeholder relationships, alongside educating, guiding and supporting the Heads of Schools and leadership teams in setting and managing their budgets and making financial decisions.
- You will be accountable for the effective management of the finances of the Foundation, compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including charitable statutory reporting, and for developing and delivering best practice across the finance function.
- The role also has accountability for managing the finances of a small trading subsidiary and a separately managed Alms House charity.
The Ideal Head of Finance:
- The Foundation is looking for an experienced, qualified professional who is a strategic thinker with strong attention to detail.
- The ability to confidently communicate complex financial issues and a willingness to challenge assumptions and current practice are essential for this role.
- This role could be ideally suited to an individual looking to make the move into a not for profit organisation or someone looking for career progression within the sector
- Having the right skills and experience for the role are more important than sector knowledge.
