Exciting Senior Management position within a leading Financial Services organisation with public sector links
To apply for this position, you must have full right to work within the UK.
This role can be based anywhere within the UK, however occasional travel to Sheffield or London offices will be required (currently 3 or 4 times per month).
Your new company
I'm delighted to be partnered once again with a leading Financial Services organisation with offices in London and Sheffield. The organisation have close links to the Treasury and operate as a hybrid public & private sector organisation of sorts, providing a unique structure of financing into the SME business population in Britain to help them thrive and grow.
The organisation is truly unique, employing people from a range of backgrounds across their various teams, with most typical senior management roles coming from the Banking and Finance industries.
They are well known for their outstanding packages accompanying salaries including 15% employer pension, 38 days annual leave, discretionary bonuses, significant hybrid working and a people focused delivery of working to their staff.
Your new role
You'll be joining the organisation as a Senior Manager, operating within a team overseeing a specific range of products, with responsibility for the Direct Guarantees product.
The team executes and manages transactions with SME lenders such as banks and non-bank financial institutions and seeks to address funding, security, and capital constraints these entities may face that prevent them from increasing or maintaining their credit activity in the smaller business sector.
Direct Guarantees product schemes seek to unlock finance for smaller businesses affected by market gaps by transferring a fixed share of a facility's credit risk away from the lender, in return for a fee and borrower pricing commitments. The management of the product schemes involves underwriting the exposure and actively managing the evolution of the portfolio to maximise objectives whilst managing the associated risk.
The role:
You will manage and complete Direct Guarantee transactions in line with the product schemes' objectives and risk appetite. The post will report to the Director for the product group and will involve independently managing the lifecycle of transactions, collaborating with a team of relationship managers. The post will be supported by a team of junior colleagues, and it will involve developing and directly managing this team.
Main duties of the role will include:
- Agreeing transaction terms for Direct Guarantees with counterparties and internal stakeholders.
- Performing analysis to assess credit guarantee terms, and analysing counterparties' financial status and processes to assess counterparty risk.
- Reviewing transaction papers to consider how objectives are best achieved and risks managed.
- Presenting transactions to governance forums, which include members of the Executive Committee.
- Managing approvals processes and ensuring proper record keeping.
- Risk management, including completing quality control activities and collaborating with risk colleagues.
- Ongoing analysis, as part of portfolio management activity, to assess how guarantees are meeting objectives and the level of risk being taken.
- Development of junior colleagues, taking an active role in an established development programme.
Collaboration within the role will be with:
- Relationship managers, to help manage the portfolio of counterparties across a variety of products.
- Operational colleagues, to interpret transaction terms in an operational context.
- Other members of GWS, for example on the development of the product strategy.
What you'll need to succeed
Essential experience required for this role:
- Experience of a leading role, working on equity or credit transactions involving financial institutions.
- Ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
- An understanding of capital markets, finance structures, securitisation and credit guarantee techniques.
- Analytical and financial modelling skills.
Desirable experience for the post would include:
- Experience of government guarantee scheme transactions.
- Extensive experience in securitisation or equivalent capital markets roles.
- Proven experience in marketing and executing SME securitisation.
- Strong understanding of risk and governance structures in regulated financial institutions.
What you'll get in return
You'll be joining a highly forward thinking, modern organisation who offer outstanding benefits and a strong value proposition to prospective applicants, including:
- Salary: Sheffield base up to c.£70,000 p
- Salary: London base up to c.£85,000 p
- Pension 15% employer contribution
- 38 days annual leave entitlement (including Bank Holidays)
- Discretionary bonus
- Paid voluntary day, maternity, adoption, and shared parental leave
- Flexible working, cycle to work scheme, healthcare cash plan and life assurance
- Largely home based working with travel to Sheffield/London 3 or 4 times per month
