Head of Commercial Finance

Head of Commercial Finance role for well-known manufacturing business near Warrington.


Hays Senior Finance are working exclusively with an International manufacturing group with multiple sites in the UK and Europe. The business has a global turnover of c£800m and over £200m in the UK. The company has grown through acquisition and has a broad product range which is sold into a variety of different markets - this has ensured the company has remained stable and cash generative for many years. Due to ongoing growth and a recent restructure the business is now looking for a Head of Commercial Finance to support the Finance Director.

As Head of Commercial Finance you will lead a team of senior Finance Business Partners ensuring the delivery, production & control of accurate financial and management information. This to assist in continually driving the business forward together with short and long-term strategic planning to meet all deadlines whilst offering an adequate level of support to key stakeholders.

Key duties will include -

• Being responsible for the preparation & delivery of the period end results, forecasting medium term strategy & budgets. These must be in line with all local & international accounting standards where relevant & in compliance with internal guidelines and timescales
• Creation of monthly business intelligence reports and corporate reporting packs
• Delivery of these reporting packs to the Finance Director with full, appropriate commentary
• Supporting the business in driving adequate actions forward & adding the necessary financial value, scrutiny & acumen where necessary

• Ensure that all UK and Group reporting deadlines are met
• Supporting local management in controlling and managing the costs within budget.
• Ensure a close working relationship demonstrating alignment with the Finance Director and Group Financial Controller
• Development of functional KPIs with departmental manager
• Working with local management, production of fully supported budget and successive forecasts for allocated business streams and cost centres. ·
• Monthly Sales and any other ad-hoc business stream reporting

• Liaise with Marketing Intelligence on optimal sales reporting & work closely & collaboratively on any required business projects
• Maintenance and development of the UK Group's reporting systems, including cost centers, profit centers, hierarchies and material masters

Key skills required -

• Professionally qualified accountant
• Relevant sector experience - manufacturing / FMCG
• Significant knowledge of UKGAAP & IFRS
• Previous experience in a senior level commercial role rather than a traditional FC/FD role
• Previous SAP experience highly desirable
• Sound commercial knowledge
• Engaging & inspirational leadership style
• Project management skills
• Strong communication skills
