A Finance Manager is required on a permanent basis for an established business, based in the Coventry area with over 100 years of trading history. The business in question is the UK & Europe's leading provider of services and project delivery in their field, delivering bespoke solutions across both public and private sectors.

With the successful renewal of contracts and the winning of new long-term contracts our client has seen a year of significantly improved business performance. Astutely, as they seek further grow, this private equity backed business will continue to undergo a sustained period of change and transformation. Recent appointments adding extensive experience across the senior leadership team demonstrate this and with plans for acquisitions, programs for automation and the implementation of a new ERP system, it is a very exciting time to be joining this business.

The successful candidate will support the Financial Controller in delivering an efficient, organised, and accurate finance function for the business. Preparing and reviewing various financial documents and ad hoc requests with integrity.

You will also manage and develop members of the finance controlling team, reviewing work to ensure accurate and timely financials. This position provides ample opportunity for engagement with senior stakeholders and a clear route for career progression and development.

Job Description - Reporting to the Financial Controller, assist with financial activities that include but are not limited to:

Financial Reporting & Control

  • Staff management, motivation, and development
  • Ensuring knowledge of accounting standards is maintained and providing guidance across the team
  • Driving process documentation and process improvements
  • Working closely with Management Accounts to adhere to reporting requirements and deadlines
  • Assisting with month-end processes including journals
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assistance with review of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Consolidation of monthly results
  • Monthly financial reporting, analysis and commentary
  • Financial transaction reviews and interrogation
  • Assistance with statutory accounts and audit queries
  • Submission of quarterly vat returns
  • Key point of contact for internal and external audits
  • Preparation of Corporation and other tax computations
  • Supporting the Financial Controller with day-to-day activities of the department
  • Ad-hoc requests to support the finance team and business

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • Proven ability and sound understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Proficient user of Excel
  • Prior experience in Audit (not essential)
  • Prior experience in Financial Reporting (desirable)
  • Prior management experience (desirable)
