Senior Financial Accountant - Real Estate - OUR CLIENT is an established and equity rich property/real estate investment group who invest in Commercial and Residential property across the spectrum and who are now seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their group Finance and Accounts Team. The business has a substantial portfolio of properties under management and management and have a successful list of JVs to their name within the property sector.

 

THE ROLE: This is a leading role responsible for both reviewing the financial processes and suggesting improvements as well as overseeing financial statements and statutory account and pulling together the consolidation. The incumbent will additionally take responsibility for assisting with group statutory reporting, internal audit and developing the management information under the remit of Group Accounting team.

 

Reporting to Groups Finance Director and Controller, your activities will include but not be limited to:

  • Working together with the Financial Controller on the Statutory consolidated Accounts and combined accounts for family interests.
  • Preparing statutory accounts for certain large UK companies.
  • Assisting Financial Director in implementing any statutory or regulatory changes.
  • Reviewing audit files and reports as prepared by other staff for smaller entities.
  • Liaising with Senior Auditors on any audit issues arising on the Group accounts.
  • Preparing year end valuation reports for group companies for inclusion in statutory accounts.
  • Audit insurance premiums for payment and process.
  • Ensuring processing of raw data for allocated companies is timely and efficient.
  • Suggesting systems improvements and implementation of new processes.
  • Reviewing quarterly VAT/CIS Returns and reviewing processes.
  • Assisting the Finance Director with corporate due diligence if the opportunity arises.
  • Assisting with the accounting integration of any new entities acquired
  • Internal audit on accounts processes and on other divisions as required.
  • Preparing/reviewing key financial information on a quarterly basis for the wholly owned business.
  • Reviewing quarterly rent roll report and audit the integrity of the data.
  • Improving the Business Intelligence system for management reporting purposes and assisting with preparation of other management information.

 

THE PERSON - To apply, you must be a fully qualified accounting professional (ideally ACA but ACCAs will be considered who have spent time in practice) - you will also have experience working with property accounts. You must have solid experience in preparing consolidated, financial / management and statutory accounts, and providing analysis of those. Ability to understand taxation implications of accounting decisions is also required particularly property VAT matters would be additionally helpful. You will have strong IT skills (Excel, word, PowerPoint, etc.). Good knowledge of statutory accounting packages (eg Caseware) along with property management systems (QUBE, Horizon, Yardi or equivalent) will be highly desirable. The incumbent should possess excellent interpersonal skills and be a confident communicator able to liaise with external partners. You are expected to have flexible, proactive approach to work and willingness to help with tasks as required and remaining calm under pressure and when dealing with accounting issues.
