Group Financial Accountant 

Resourcery Group are working in partnership with a well known Liverpool business as they look to hire a Group Financial Accountant. The Group Financial Accountant will work closely with the Financial Controller in the provision of a professional financial accounting service to the wider group and its subsidiaries. The Group Financial Accountant must be a qualified accountant with experience in external audit and statutory accounts preparation and review. You will have strong technical accounting skills, will be highly numerate with excellent attention to detail and an ability to understand and interpret financial and non-financial information from a variety of sources. You will possess excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with a desire and ability to partner with colleagues (both finance and non-finance).

This role will be based in the Liverpool Head office, but the business has embraced hybrid working and you will be able to work from him for part of the week (if desired).

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Play a key part in the production of year end statutory accounts as well as a consolidated balance sheet for the management purposes throughout the year.
  • Prepare external financial and statutory returns for the group and its subsidiaries.
  • Develop strong control processes to ensure data quality and accuracy and completeness of accounting ledgers
  • Provide a financial due diligence service to the group and subsidiary companies – be the main point of contact and maintain a complete and up to date due diligence review checklist.
  • Work with the finance manager to ensure compliance with VAT regulations in recording all transactions including the operation of the partial exemption method and the capital goods scheme
  • Production and submission of all indirect tax returns, including quarterly VAT returns; Corporation Tax return and other returns required by HMRC. Ensure maximisation of tax recovery, in line with HMRC regulations
  • Keep up to date with Statutory Financial reporting requirements
  • Deputise for the Financial Controller, including representation at meetings in a financial advisory capacity and leading on or assisting on project work as directed
