The position of Group Financial Controller is responsible for developing and leading the finance function and will be expected to deliver the role with a high level of autonomy, assisting the Head of Finance to ensure the integrity of all accounting, budgeting, forecasting, planning and analysis, on a professional and timely basis as the business continues with its next stage of growth.

Description

Reporting Cycles - Responsible for all financial reporting cycles

  • Responsibility for the management of the finance function to meet group requirements for timely information and reporting
  • Monthly financial reporting - responsibility for delivering the full monthly Board Pack
  • Constantly evolve the monthly reporting packs and process to ensure fit-for-purpose

Engagement with Key Stakeholders - Development of strong working relationships with all stakeholders, ensuring that they have all relevant information required in a timely manner to contribute to the success of the business

  • Direct line management of the finance team
  • Working closely with the Head of Finance and the heads of departments
  • Liaison with other departments for processes that interact with the finance team or impact the finances of the company. Be a point of contact for consultation over such issues and advise on best practice
  • Work with the Audit Committee to ensure the appropriate levels of assurance are obtained around the controls environment for the company and to develop and improve internal controls and reporting
  • Provide accounting technical support to the business on proposed ventures and impact assessments of new financial reporting standards
  • Support all functions across the business and ensure a growing level of financial literacy
  • Financial support - deliver sound financial information and support as required to aid management decision-making, leading discussion on the financial implications of operational decisions as part of a proactive Group Finance team
  • Continuous Improvement - Responsible for improving the quality of everything you and your team do

    • Set and monitor departmental and individual objectives for the team to meet company objectives and develop the function and the team
    • Identifying improvement areas for the function, the team and financial management and profitability for the company
    • Team development - mentoring, coaching and developing each member of the finance department to be their best and meet their development needs and objectives
    • Take personal responsibility for own development and succession planning
    • View process development as an imperative to success

    Controls & Risk Management - Responsible for managing all financial risks to the business

    • Liaising with the company's insurers for queries relating to cover
    • Review & authorise payments in the bank. Manage liquidity around the group
    • Maintain a group cashflow forecast and advise on working capital/ liquidity
    • Treasury - involvement in Group Treasury matters
    • Monthly review of journals and project working papers, consolidated accounts and Board Pack
    • Maintain documented procedures for the Finance function and ensure wider business procedures support the control of business assets and liabilities.
    • Review of disaster recovery planning for finance
    • Ownership of identified risks and appropriate mitigations of the corporate risk register

Profile

The successful candidate will be a highly experienced Group Financial Controller (or a candidate stepping up to Group FC level), CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified, an assured self-starter with the drive to understand the detail, the focus to collaborate and influence others, possessing a thorough understanding of diverse business processes and financial strategy.

* CIMA, ACCA OR ACA Qualified
* Highly experienced Financial Controller ideally from a manufacturing background

* Excellent analytical skills
* Strong commercial acumen and considered an expert in their field
* Highly proficient with Excel and all Microsoft Office tools
* Experienced in Microsoft Dynamics
* Strong financial modelling

* Proven ability to lead and develop a finance team, supporting colleagues to be their best
