Financial Accountant

This company is a fantastic success story, following private equity investment they have grown through acquisition and organically to reach c £60m turnover. They now have ambitious plans to achieve £100m in the next few years. They now have an opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join the business, ideally fresh from practice and work closely with the Group FC and CFO. This is truly a development role where the successful candidate can expect a lot of exposure to external advisors and progression to a Financial Controller role in one of the groups divisions. The main duties for this position will include:

•    Preparation of monthly management accounts under UK Gaap
•    Analysis and commentary within reporting deadlines
•    Detailed balance sheet reconciliations
•    Assist with year-end statutory accounting work
•    Liaising with auditors to assist with fieldwork requirements
•    Liaising with operations to ensure robust controls around stock
•    Completing quarterly VAT returns

A key quality my client is looking for is the ability to produce incisive commentary when reporting and display an appreciation for the wider commercial impact of the numbers in the accounts. Strong technical and communication skills will therefore be vital for success in this role as you will be expected to provide clear and concise summaries to business managers, keep abreast of current accounting changes and implement into monthly accounting routines. You must have strong attention to detail and the ability to improve controls and processes.

The ideal candidate for this role would preferably have a background in accountancy practice, or experience of a financial accounting role in industry.
