Your new company
Hays are working exclusively in partnership with a large wholesale business in Essex to recruit a new Credit Manager. This business has a fantastic reputation in their market and an extensive network and customer base. This company pride themselves on their 'work hard, play hard' attitude and have a much longer than average staff tenure due to the positive and supportive culture they have built.

Your new role
The main purpose of the role is to oversee all credit control operations for the busiest division in the company structure. You will report to a Senior Credit Manager but be wholly responsible for a ledger of c£30-40m and have full autonomy of the O2C process. Specifically you will be responsible for:

  • Managing c10 Credit Control staff
  • Working with Regional Directors to manage key customer relationships
  • Attending branches to work with operational leaders on debt management
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders to improve and implement best credit practice
  • Provide basic bad debt reports when needed
  • Devising or improving credit procedure and driving change through the team

This is a full time role working Monday to Friday that is classed as office based. You will split your time as you see fit between the Brentwood office with your team and visiting branches to work alongside Branch Managers.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a strong understanding of commercial credit and collections and be able to operate autonomously. You will be self-motivated, driven by success and be able to instil that into your team members. You will be a strong people manager and be confident in developing individual skills. You will be able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and be able to form partnerships based on trust. You will be able to think outside the normal parameters of credit limits and demonstrate the "know your customer" philosophy to ensure effective debt collection and cash flow. Ideally you will hold a recognised CICM qualification and have an understanding of retail, wholesale or distribution type environments but this is not essential.

What you'll get in return

  • Highly competitive salary
  • Company car
  • Above average matched pension contribution
  • Private healthcare scheme
  • 25 days annual leave + Bank holidays
  • Work laptop and mobile
  • Discretionary bonus
