Uttlesford District Council is a small council in Essex with a big heart, it has a vision to make the area the best place to live, work and play. The residents live in the area because of its beautiful and historic character, however it has excellent travel links around the country and beyond with Stansted airport being a part of its region. It is also at the centre of the Governments London - Cambridge Innovation Corridor which is delivering increased economic opportunities and more employment.

Reporting into the newly appointed Assistant Director of Finance the Senior Accountant will manage a small team and will support the AD in the annual financial cycle including budgets and Medium Term Financial Strategy preparation, budget monitoring and Statement of Accounts production. You will take the lead on the Capital Programme and Housing Revenue Account and ensure compliance with CIPFA accounting guidance and timescales

Ideally you will be a fully qualified (CCAB) accountant with Local Government or Public Sector experience. As you will have line management of a small team, experience in managing or mentoring others would be welcome. The key criteria is to have great communication skills and the desire to develop your career. The Assistant Director of Finance is looking for someone with ambition and the potential to develop into the role.

Uttlesford District Council have a flexible approach to working, with a base office in Saffron Walden, they are happy to consider Hybrid working or mainly remote working options, depending on experience and location of the successful candidate.
