Group FP&A Manager | 12 mth FTC

The Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. It is responsible for promoting and developing every level of the game, from grassroots through to the professional game, and generates significant revenue to support investment into English football each year.

The FA oversees England international teams across men's, women's, youth and disability football, as well as running the National League System and FA Competitions including the Emirates FA Cup, Barclays FA Women's Super League, FA Women's Championship, and Vitality Women's FA Cup, and the world-class facilities of Wembley Stadium and St. George's Park, all with a purpose to Unite the Game and Inspire the Nation.

The Role:

We are searching for an experienced qualified accountant to join our Finance team on a fixed term basis. The Group FP&A manager will have full responsibility for the monthly management and Board reporting, annual budgeting and forecasting cycles and weekly performance tracking.

The successful candidate will own the processes from setting the timetable to drafting the Board papers, and will be responsible for the ongoing development and improvement of the FA's planning and reporting tool (Anaplan).

Key Accountabilities:

  • Coordination of the monthly management accounting close process. Specifically, responsible for consolidating and reviewing the results submitted by each Division and preparing Senior Management and Board reporting.
  • Ownership of the planning cycles, consisting of an annual budget and 3 quarterly reforecasts. Responsible for the end to end process, setting the timetable, agreeing scope and deliverables, consolidating the results, reviewing the detail with the Division's and preparing the Board papers.
  • Lead on the continued development of the FA's planning and reporting tool (Anaplan).
  • Take the lead role in driving forward the planning processes and systems to improve the speed and efficiency of the process as well as the transparency of the Nos.
  • Communicate effectively across the Commercial Finance team to ensure all deadlines are met and all deliverables received.
  • Adhoc support to the Senior Group Finance Manager, Head of Finance and CFO as required.
  • Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing can be maintained.

What we are looking for?

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experience of model building and improvement,
  • Experience of financial forecasting, report writing and commercial support,
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office,
  • A bright and enquiring personality with a strong desire to be involved with and influence the business,
  • Passionate about driving process improvement,
  • An ambitious individual with an interest in building a career in finance/sport.

Desirable:

  • Anaplan experience preferred but not mandatory,
  • Great Plains accounting system experience preferred but not mandatory.

Please be aware that unless you are on a homebased contract, your contract with The FA will specify a fixed location of either Wembley Stadium, St. George's Park or our Processing Centre.

We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.
