Finance Manager
An incredibly exciting and forward thinking Not for profit business North Yorkshire
Full time - with hybrid working between office and home working
The role of Finance Manager is an integral part of this organisations finance function which will support the Senior Management team, business partners and the board of trustees.
The role will oversee the monthly management accounting process, the reporting packs and will provide meaningful, relevant and value adding management information to support decision making as well as supporting the business on new and exciting projects they have coming up.
The role will provide all different areas of the business with high quality business partnering. It will support the budget holders and decision makers with business planning, performance analysis, monitoring performance and financial forecasting.
You will also take responsibility for overseeing the production of the draft of statutory accounts as well as managing the annual audit process.
Reporting and financial planning
- Ensure robust Financial Performance Reporting including preparation of month end management accounts with variance analysis against budget
- Preparation of year-end financial statements
- Prepare ad hoc reports such as for projects or meetings as required
- Manage the annual planning and budgeting cycle for the organisation. Support the production of the annual budget and longer-term plans
- Assist budget holders with developing and evaluating operational and business plans in line with strategic priorities
- Challenge planning and budget assumptions to ensure that numbers generated are robust.
- Provide financial analysis of activities included in the budget
- Produce the data to be consolidated into the overall budget, within agreed time scales
- Manage the year end process and external audit including production of year end accounts
- Produce monthly analysis of balance sheet funds for Senior Management
Business Partnering
- Provide support to budget holders, so that there is appropriate awareness of their budget management responsibilities
- Deal effectively with queries from budget holders and senior management
- Monitor compliance with approved financial management and procurement procedures
- Prepare, submit, and monitor all VAT.
- Manage daily monitoring of bank balances ensuring maximisation of interest and investment income in line with the investment policy.
Skillset required
- Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACCA) with at least a few year's experience working in a finance function
- Experience in the not for profit sector is a huge advantage but not essential
- A passion to work in the not for profit sector is essential
- Experience of liaising with external auditors and involvement in an annual audit process is required
- Significant experience of preparation of management and annual accounts and business analysis is required
- Strong interpersonal skills - commercially astute and a great communicator
- Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously - a good decision maker
