We are recruiting the Head of Finance for an ambitious products and services business based in Central London.

At present revenue is £8m, the aim is to grow that figure to £15-£20m in the next three years. They currently have three offices, the most recent of which was opened in the US in 2022. You will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team. You must possess strong financial management experience and be ready for the challenge of managing all day-to-day financial activity (currently supervising an Assistant Accountant), by building your finance team, whist acting as a true business partner to colleagues, the Board and other shareholders to help drive growth (organic / acquisition) and profit.  

Key responsibilities: 

  • Preparing the financial objectives for the business, responsible for the leading the annual budgeting process in line with the Business Plan; forecasting; and financial planning processes.
  • Leading the design and provision of relevant and insightful financial and operating information and analysis to the Board in a timely manner (including monthly P&L,CF and BS) and Shareholders, giving a clear overview of business performance and fuelling commercial decision making and strategic planning discussions.
  • Supporting the Board with all fund raising and any potential M&A activity.
  • Assessing performance against both the budget and long-term strategy, providing financial input into key operational decision.
  • Developing and managing robust financial systems and controls and taking responsibility for risk and finance policies; and planning and structuring.
  • Leading cash and working capital management and managing the treasury requirements of the business to best effect.
  • Managing the annual audit process and ensuring rigorous compliance with financial reporting requirements.

Your profile  

  • A qualified accountant with strong financial acumen.
  • Financial leadership experience gained in a product (i.e., retail, manufacturing, distribution etc.) or services driven business, ideally with a WIP element, possessing the ambition and ability to progress to Finance Director.
  • You will have a demonstrable track record of contributing to growing a business in terms of revenue, profit and geographical footprint.
  • Exposure to fund raising (debt / equity) and /or M&A activity would be beneficial.
  • Strong personal presence and a confident leadership style combined with an entrepreneurial and hard-working approach are critical to the success of this role.
  • The appointed candidate must be technically capable, commercially aware and possess the ability to inspire and influence people at all levels.
  • Someone who is not afraid to get into the detail and who is willing to be hands on, whilst building a team to support them.
  • A strong focus on value creation and cash management, as well as the credibility to manage relationships with key external stakeholders.     
  • Commercially minded with a good understanding of the key market drivers and potential issues, which may affect the business and its customers.
  • Advanced MS Excel, able to manipulate large data sets.
  • Multicurrency experience i.e., cross border VAT transactions.
