Client Details
Due to a period of growth a leading Surrey based Charity are seeking a two Finance Business Partners to join its team. As a Finance Business Partner, you will be based in the central Finance and Payroll Department, with responsibility for one of the charity's regions. By working closely with the RHO and local managers in that region, you will provide support and training to ensure that processes are understood and operated correctly, so that income, staff costs and non-staff costs are recorded accurately and on-time in the central systems for your region.
Description
Your understanding and working knowledge of the region will enable you to calculate and process accurate accrual and other journals at each month end, provide robust forecasts of full year positions and validate and explain variances against budget or forecast.
As part of the central team, you will be responsible for preparing monthly reconciliations as well as taking a key role in the preparation of the monthly management accounts, annual budget, mid-year forecasting and year end accounts and audit preparation.
Provide on the job training and support to the RHO and Centre Managers on financial matters so that all data is accurate and submitted and captured on a timely basis.
Ensure the completeness and accuracy of all month end data for the cost centres within the postholder's responsibility.
Prepare and enter month end journals as appropriate, particularly identifying where accruals or releases are necessary within the region of your responsibility.
Ensure all change forms affecting fee charges have been completed accurately and on time by local managers and submitted to central colleagues on a timely basis.
Prepare monthly account reconciliations on a range of accounts, as directed by the Senior Finance Business Partner.
Gain a good understanding of the business for each of the cost centres within the area of responsibility such that an informed understanding and explanation of variances can be provided.
Support the Senior Finance Business Partner with the timely production of consolidated monthly management accounts, and inputting particularly to the production, review and commentary on your region of responsibility,
Liaise with and work with the financial transaction and payroll teams to identify and correct errors in the data and develop improvements to systems to prevent them arising again in the future.
Support the RHO and Centre Managers with the production of annual budget information.
Ensure that costing information is maintained up to date and support the RHO or local managers in any bids or quotes for new people we can support.
Support the RHO and Centre Managers with the production of mid-year financial forecast information.
Take responsibility for maintaining any central records or systems allocated to the role such as fixed asset register or restricted funds.
Design and prepare suitable summaries and analyses of financial records for year end accounts as appropriate.
Support the work of the external auditors as appropriate, responding to requests for audit evidence in a timely manner.
Identify opportunities for further efficiency and enhancement of the management accounting service.
As a member of the finance business partnering and management accounts team, collaborate with other team members to identify, develop and deliver cross-team improvements.
To carry out any other duties commensurate with the post of Finance Business Partner as requested by the Senior Finance Business Partner or Head of Finance
Profile
- Recently qualified or currently working towards a suitable management accounting qualification, or substantial qualification by experience.
- Maths and English GCSE at grade C or above (or equivalent)
- Experience of working in a management accounts team
- Experience of finance business partnering arrangements
- Use of Microsoft Business Central/ Dynamics/ Navision
- Use of finance reporting tools (ideally Jet Reports)
- Working in fast paced growing organisation
- Strong all round IT skills, including competence in MS Office programmes
- At least intermediate MS Excel skills
- Effective development of other people, especially non-financial managers
- An organised individual with ability to work systematically and manage multiple competing demands to tight deadlines
- Able to perform even when working under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Empathy with the charity's purposes and activities
- Willing to travel across the organisations region. Minimum travel perhaps 3 days a month worst case scenario. No overnight stay.
