Reporting into the CRO in a Head of Risk role, managing a large team, 2 departmental heads and managing a £55billion risk portfolio for an organisation crucial to the UK economy.
Client Details
Our client is a government owned organisation tasked with maintaining the UK's credit exposure and for supporting on trade deals outside of the UK.
Description
- Responsible for the risk division which has responsibility for due diligence. risk approvals, project finance and insurance.
- Working closely with the ESG and Climate Change Divisions, this role will lead on emerging methodologies and techniques to incorporate these factors into risk analysis.
- Operate as a critical backbone for assessments and approvals.
- Leading, supporting and motivating 5 teams, total of approx. 25 full time employees including Managers
- Produce Probability of Default assessments by completing detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis of a counterparty's business, strategy and financial risk profiles.
- Research and critique industry outlooks, positioning, strategic direction, and management capability
- Speak with Credit rating agencies, credit sanctioners at Banks to provide a final recommendation.
- Provide technical risk support and challenge to the front office when transactions are being structured and negotiated, ensuring minimal risk to the balance sheet.
- Use commercial judgement and risk expertise when sanctioning proposed transactions, ensuring they are well negotiated and meet all relevant policy requirements.
Profile
- Professional qualification: Qualified accountant, or Institute of Risk Managers (IRMCert)
- Proven track record as a successful, senior risk professional, applying risk disciplines with high standards of delivery in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Extensive credit risk management experience including the direct exercise of (significant) personal credit approval authority across a diverse range of asset classes.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of working across multiple products and asset classes and of providing well thought through structuring solutions to complex financing.
