Our client is an exciting, fast growing group of wholesale and distribution companies (food and drink) serving some of the best and most well-known businesses across the UK.  The business is now looking to recruit a Finance Director who will be responsible for the incorporation of an in house finance function and for the day-to-day financial management of the businesses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for overseeing all financial reporting requirements, including budgets, monthly P&L performance and forecasting and balance sheet reporting.  
  • Cash flow forecasting and ongoing monitoring of cash requirements across the business including strict, proactive and controlled usage of lending facilities.
  • Provide and analyse financial information to the CEO to assist in decision making.
  • Improve financial and KPI reporting across the business
  • Evaluate current and proposed business activities to ensure they are financially viable and in line with short and long term business objectives.
  • Production of monthly management accounts.
  • Preparation of reports and commentary for the Board pack.
  • Process and systems improvements through streamlining, documenting and standardising processes, and system enhancement projects.
  • Evaluate and propose the new finance team structure; develop, recruit and manage a team.
  • Manage the month-end close and assist in the production of year-end financial statements
  • Establish, update and implement financial policies, procedures and internal controls, including a policy manual for the Finance function to ensure strong governance.
  • Responsible for reviewing the payroll calculations each month and submission of all HMRC compliance requirements (e.g. VAT, P60, P11D).
  • Manage day to day banking function and relationship

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Fully qualified  (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to lead a high calibre team
  • Extensive cash flow forecasting exposure
  • Sound knowledge of corporate governance, audit and risk management and financial reporting and processes
  • Strong Excel and presentation skills
