Job Title
CFO

Our client is a leading global independent distributor of scale, with several offices across 4 regions with a comparably small number of employees, so maintaining a highly entrepreneurial culture, being fast paced and operationally dynamic.  The business is currently privately owned and enjoys an unrivalled and outstanding reputation in its market. Over the past couple of years the business has enjoyed unprecedented growth and currently has a revenue of around £ 400 million with impressive profitability.  The business is well-positioned in what is a turbulent economic climate globally, and whilst there is a reduction in revenue in the short term, the long term outlook is extremely positive and healthy.  Our client has a high value service offering supported by sophisticated technology and a large, diversified Customer base with high retention rates.  The CEO is now looking to hire a new CFO who can partner him and the SMT through the next stage of the organisation’s journey.

Key responsibilities of this role are detailed below.

  • Lead the Finance, Accounting & Legal functions across the organisation
  • Partner the CEO and SMT on Strategic and Commercial decision making
  • Manage external relationships such as Bankers, Auditors, Lawyers and other third parties including potential Investors
  • Play a major role in M&A
  • Oversee all Treasury activities
  • Work with the SMT in an ongoing review to improve systems providing relevant and up to date analysis around products and Customer accounts

The candidate for this role will have a demonstrable track record of being a CFO, ideally in a privately owned and fast paced organisation where the role of CFO is that of a business leader and right hand person to the CEO, whilst being very much a ‘Team player’.  This is a superb opportunity for a CFO who is looking to add value from Day 1 and thus be part of a value creation journey.  Previous M&A experience is vital and experience of working through an Exit event would also be extremely useful. Suitable candidates will have worked in international organisations which have either gone through a scale-up or have a revenue of at least £300m.  The successful candidate will need to be resilient, robust and a natural leader as this is a highly visible role with considerable accountability attached to it.  In terms of sector experience our client is very open minded; however this business distributes product and is B2B so experience in this area would be relevant.  This is a Board position and international travel will be expected.
