Financial Controller / Finance Manager

PLP is looking for an experienced Financial Controller / Finance Manager based in our Andover office to lead the UK finance team.

This is an established role and has become available due to a recent internal promotion. The Financial Controller will lead a team of four, managed by an experienced accountant. This is a growing business and this role supports a busy warehouse and manufacturing site. Experience in a wide range of financial disciplines including AR, AP and inventory management is important as well as budgeting. As a senior manager the role reports to the Managing Director and includes the role of company secretary responsible for annual filing.

Applicants for the Financial Controller role are expected to have appropriate ACA or CIMA qualifications and five years team leading experience. The role could suit an experienced financial manager or an existing team leader looking for promotion.

The role is a full time 4.5 day week office based position however there is scope for the right candidate to have structured hybrid hours to suit school commitments.

Financial Controller / Finance Manager duties and key responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparation and presentation of monthly management and manufacturing reports, including annual budgets. To present these to the local MD and Regional Finance Controller.
  • To be responsible for corporate governance issues including legal contracts and T’s & C’s.
  • To lead, coach & participate in the tender contract review process.
  • Oversight of the payroll via an external provider along with the T&A and incentive schemes.
  • The Financial Controller / Finance Manager will be a member of the Senior Management Team, and will be expected to deputise for other Senior Managers.
  • To lead the development of a progressive and robust costing system.
  • Develop the financially driven aspects of the ERP system.
  • Responsible for all finance audits including compliance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX 404) finance act.

 

Qualifications

  • A fully qualified Accountant eg. ACCA/ CIMA / ACA
     

Experience

  • At least 5 years’ finance team leading experience is essential, ideally in distribution or manufacturing.
  • Essential to possess good U.K. accounting experience and tax knowledge.
  • Ability to understand and review product costings.
