Group Accountant - Real Estate. (Recently qualified ACA). OUR CLIENT is a large UK based private property development company backed by a larger investor. They are developing a number of key strategic sites and as they look to expand, they are taking on a recently qualified ACA - Group Accountant to join their central finance team and assume responsibility for the preparation of the quarterly management accounts and the quarterly consolidation of 90+ companies as well as assisting in delivering timely, accurate and high-quality financial reports and management information.

 

THE ROLE: The Group Accountant will be responsible for:

 

  • Assisting with the quarterly consolidation of c100 companies in accordance with UK GAAP and will include preparation and documentation of consolidation journals.
  • Preparing the quarterly management accounts, including the provision of variance analysis comparing actual results to budget.
  • Assisting with the preparation of the financial sections of the year end Group accounts as well as reviewing the whole report and accounts.
  • Preparing subsidiary accounts under FRS 102.
  • Assisting with update of accounting software.
  • Assisting with the review of VAT/CIS returns ahead of submission to HMRC.
  • Assisting with monitoring and documentation of financial controls within the finance department.
  • Monitoring distributable reserves, including recoverability of intercompany receivables, impairment of investments and payment of dividends up the Group.
  • Ongoing review of dormant entities for strike off.
  • Performing credit checks on third parties.
  • Assisting with the population of the Group's tax model on an ad hoc basis.
  • Ensuring that audit queries are responded on a timely basis and assisting with the implementation of internal audit recommendations.
  • Preparation of financial slides for Board meetings and other reporting matters.
  • Undertaking other ad hoc tasks as requested.

 

THE PERSON REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Recent ACA qualification (or equivalent) 1-2 years PQE.
  • An understanding of the technical aspects of accounting - including group consolidations, joint venture accounting and revenue recognition.
  • Awareness of real estate accounting issues such as VAT and CIS implications, investment vs trading properties, long-term developments, and leases would be an advantage.
  • A strong MS Office user specifically in Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to be able to assist a diverse client group across the business.
  • Proactive, methodical, and highly organised,
  • Enthusiastic and sociable
  • Flexible - the individual may be required to attend occasional meetings at the development sites (based in the UK, but not necessarily in London).
