3-6 month interim Systems role


ROLE TITLE: Systems Accountant
Reports to: Functional Reporting Line (solid line) Head of Finance
Operational Reporting (dotted line) Business Systems Manager
Direct reports including contractors: 0

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with or implementing D365 Finance & Operations
  • Proven track record of working as a Systems Accountant 5+ years
  • Analytical and a passion for interrogating systems and data


Key relationships:

  • Head of Finance: reporting directly to the Head of Finance you will also have extensive exposure across the business where you will interact with several different departments including the Finance team, business systems and third-party IT global support company

  • Business Systems Manager: you will work with the Business systems manager, and wider Business system team to ensure any changes to D365 are completed in adherence to the IT governance processes


ROLE PURPOSE:

  • Ensuring D365 F&O configuration best meets the needs of the business
  • To work together with project teams, Head of Finance and Business Systems Manager to implement and deliver systems that align with the strategy
  • This role will play an important part in the successful running of the D365 Finance, Operations and HR modules.
  • You will be the Finance lead for system improvement of D365 alongside the existing business system team and D365 Gold Partner.
  • This role will work together with the business to define and scope system enhancements such as budgeting, forecasting, and implementation of add-ons to the current system such as T&E system.
  • Work with business systems team to resolve snags and change requests.
  • Provide training to staff to ensure they are competent with ERP system processes and controls.
  • Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the systems infrastructure, by proactively engaging with the team and the business to identify new system and process improvement.
  • Collaborating with business systems team and financial staff to meet business requirements.
  • Working with other business software where applicable.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

  • Data Integrity
  • Manage data sources where integrated with Dynamics such as (WBS, CRM, T&E, Payroll, Bank)
  • Designing and implementing internal system controls (preventative and detective) to provide
  • quality assurance over financial data.
  • Systems:
  • Reviewing system automated workflows and batch processes to identify and resolve issues.
  • Troubleshooting and fixing finance related system issues.
  • Requests to access finance modules of D365 (e., who can post journal entries / approvals)
  • Reviewing systems performance and identifying system issues.
  • Assisting the Finance team in defining their Security Roles, Duty, and Privilege requirements for
  • existing and new team members.
  • Maintaining the Account Structures and Accounting Calendars and create new nominal accounts
  • / dimensions / divisions / reporting periods as required and approval hierarchy.
  • Reporting:
  • Responsibility for Year End system routines and managing period close.
  • Liaising directly with auditors to extract data and supporting information to answer audit
  • questions.
  • Liaising directly with business systems team to support accuracy of existing Power BI reports and
  • provide requirements for new reports.
  • Assist in the training and use of Management reporter module.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Working with the business systems team to design delivery schedules of systems development
  • Lead Finance regression testing during D365 upgrades.
  • Co-ordinating and managing any change requests from the business to include sign off from senior finance, UAT testing and where appropriate providing training and support for new function on go live.
  • Provide Functional design documents for any system change that are delivered.
  • Develop a culture to ensure that all Team Members actively contribute to the continuous improvement to the processes and activities undertaken by the team.
  • Assist in creation of task recording for use with the automated test tool (RSAT).
