The Finance, Commissioning & Procurement service is undergoing transformation, which includes the implementation of a new finance system. The ability to lead change and identify opportunities and implement efficiencies and best practice is important for this role, which offers a real opportunity to make a difference to the Councils' Finance service.

Your new role
As Assistant Manager - Financial Accounting you will provide technical support for core "business as usual" activities and ensure the system meets the needs of the organisation by delivering efficiencies and providing appropriate data analysis to inform financial decision making.
You will lead the Senior Business Partners in undertaking a full range of financial activities to several Directorates and Departments including the preparation of annual revenue and capital budgets (General Fund and HRA), the provision of financial monitoring and accompanying specialist advice including project and business case support, and the completion of the annual accounts in accordance with statutory deadlines.
What you'll need to succeed
You must be a CCAB qualified accountant with extensive experience of producing budgets and annual accounts with an in-depth knowledge of local authority accounting and codes of practice. You will also demonstrate relevant financial knowledge including capital accounting, Housing Revenue Account and Treasury Management.
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate previous success in motivating and developing teams and individuals, including evidence of effective delegation
