About the job and department

This excellent opportunity has arisen due to a colleague securing a promotion opportunity elsewhere in the University of Warwick and as such, there is a requirement for a Finance Manager to join the well-established Departmental Services Team. The team support Academic Departments in business planning and innovation, to maximise the financial resources available to the University in a sustainable manner for future growth. Reporting to the Head of Finance for the Departmental Services Team (Academic Resourcing Committee), the successful candidate will provide accurate and timely management information and analysis to senior University management, Heads of Departments and other stakeholders in order to aid planning, control and decision-making, specifically in the deployment of University resources and maximisation of income.

The postholder will be responsible for managing the University TRAC (Transparent Approach to Costing) process, ensuring that sector guidance is adhered to, validating results through collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior academics such as the Provost. Upon completion of the peak TRAC cycle, the postholder will work closely with fellow Finance Managers within the Departmental Services Team on quarter ends and supporting the annual planning round, providing a varied and interesting portfolio. Training will be provided to assist the successful candidate in becoming effective in the TRAC process.

What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?

The successful candidate, with an honours degree or equivalent, will draw on expertise gained in obtaining a professional accounting qualification. The person will have broad experience within a finance function, including preparing business plans, and the ability to critically evaluate new business opportunities.

With substantial experience of management accounting, the successful candidate will have sound knowledge of accounting standards, technical awareness and be confident in using IT systems.

The appointed candidate will be required to work from the University of Warwick campus for a minimum of three set days per week on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The hybrid working model could be subject to change.
