About the Job and department

This is a pivotal role acting as a business analyst, providing senior clerical accounting support to Finance Managers who act as Finance Business Partners to divisions within Warwick Medical School. Reporting to a Finance Manager, the successful candidate will lead on and be responsible for school wide salary forecasting, feeding into quarterly reporting and financial planning and liaising with NHS Trusts and organisations, implementing recharges. The post holder is responsible for preparing management information for Departmental Administrators to include investigating and analysing budgets and variances, and estimating financial data to provide accurate forecasting. The postholder will maintain accounting standards through monitoring funded activity by accurate matching of income and expenditure, resolving discrepancies and correcting errors.

Being located in Warwick Medical School supports positive working relationships with academic colleagues, allows for a better understanding of challenges and enables swift, efficient support. There are regular department-wide activities and events which allow knowledge sharing, collaboration and networking.

What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?

Holding professional qualifications such as the Association of Accounting Technician qualification (AAT) or Part 1 CIMA (or equivalent), the successful candidate will use their up-to-date knowledge of accounting and reporting standards and have substantial experience required of book-keeping, such as sales or purchase ledger processing or financial clerical support.

The postholder will have experience of working with an accounting package in a complex environment alongside their excellent IT skills and competency with excel. They will have the ability to confidently respond to queries from non-financial colleagues to explain accounting concepts, supporting them in coming to a positive conclusion.

The appointed candidate will be required to work from the University of Warwick campus for a minimum of three set days per week on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The hybrid working model could be subject to change.
