Group Tax Accountant required for a leading national insurance company to handle tax compliance matters

Your new company
This is a leading national insurance company who are looking to recruit for a Direct Corporate Tax Accountant to assist their highly regarded in house tax department. The company have a modern, collaborative culture and offer an excellent benefits package, The role will see you attend the office two times per week and report directly into the Direct Corporate & Employment Tax Manager.

Your new role
Reporting to the Direct & Employee Tax Manager, the role involves supporting the Direct and Employment Tax Manager by managing the process to deliver internal direct tax reporting / tax forecasting and external UK tax compliance; ensuring that core systems are fit for purpose for direct tax including Making Tax Digital for CT; to provide tax technical support and subject matter expert input into critical finance and business projects. The role will be based in Leeds/hybrid working and occasional travel to London may be required.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage the process to deliver internal direct tax reporting including the preparation of direct tax provisions and supporting analysis for the annual statutory accounts, including full deferred tax calculations, and group reporting cycle.
  • Finalisation of direct tax computations for submission to HMRC (using One Source Corporate Tax) and dealing with HMRC direct tax queries including preparing elections where required.
  • Post the legal entity monthly tax charge and producing the groups consolidated tax charge and proof of tax. Also ensure direct tax balance sheet reconciliations are produced monthly, issues are monitored and resolved and reported appropriately.
  • Liaison with the offshore and onshore Finance teams for Oracle GL data analysis, evaluating opportunities for automation and driving process improvement.
  • Preparation for Making Tax Digital for Corporation Tax.


What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced corporate tax accountant with experience gained at a reputable accountancy practice or within a well-regarded industry tax team. You will be comfortable with a wide range of tax compliance matters, and ideally have a minimum of 3 years PQE in this area. The company are eager to see applications from individuals who have trained with a top-100 accountancy firm.
