Purpose of the Position:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounts Assistant will be responsible for performing bookkeeping, month–end and providing the management accounts for Soane Inc, using our Quickbooks accounting software, in addition to being main point of contact for North America and assisting our UK finance team with additional reporting.

The Accounts Assistant will demonstrate good technical accounting knowledge (preferably part qualified with 3 years' experience of transactional working within a finance department) coupled with strong experience of using Quickbooks software. They will be ambitious, enthusiastic and pro–active by nature and comfortable working in an SME environment.

The hours are from 10am to 15.30pm

Duties and Responsibilities:

Overseeing the financial reporting of the Soane Inc business, including;

  • Entering transactions in the purchase ledger and cashbook.
  • Calculating accruals and prepayments.
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliation.
  • Recognising employee expenses and credit card spend, and ensuring they are in line with Company policies.
  • Creating payments to suppliers on our US banking platform.
  • Preparation of the Soane Inc weekly cash flow forecast
  • Being the main point of liaison for finance related queries for our North American team.
  • Assisting our UK finance team with global sales reporting, and other ad–hoc activities.

Qualifications for the Position:

• Part–qualified accountant with at least 3 years' experience

• Knowledge and experience of Quickbooks software (SAP Business One experience is a bonus, but not essential)

• Knowledge and experience of entering transactions, and performing month–end activities.

• Self–disciplined with good time and work load management (be comfortable with UK / US time difference).

• Strong excel skills.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels, including experience of direct reports
