As part of our continued growth and improvement, we are looking for an experienced Management Accountant Manager to join our dynamic Finance team based in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in optimising financial operations across our diverse brands, while leading the charge on process improvements and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
The Role:
As a Management Accountant Manager, you will lead a team of 4 part-qualified accountants and oversee the daily financial operations across multiple sites and brands. Your role will be central to delivering accurate and insightful financial reporting, supporting senior stakeholders, and identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies. You will play a key role in consolidating financial data, preparing monthly performance reports, and providing valuable insights to guide decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Manage and lead a team of 4 part-qualified accountants, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous development, and financial awareness.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare, consolidate, and present monthly performance reports across multiple brands, ensuring solid accuracy and timely reporting.
- Variance Analysis: Provide detailed budgeted variance analysis to the Head of Commercial Finance and CFO at month-end, offering insights into performance drivers and actionable recommendations.
- Overheads Management: Own and manage the group overheads budget, ensuring effective cost control and reporting.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and on time. Provide periodic risk and opportunity reports, and establish a quarterly governance process to ensure ongoing compliance and understanding throughout the year.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve reporting efficiency, and drive operational excellence.
- Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams to provide insights into business performance, trends, costs, and revenue forecasts. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, offering valuable financial insights to support business growth.
- Audit Liaison: Coordinate with auditors, ensuring the timely provision of required information and analysis, and supporting smooth audit processes.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and support the professional development of the finance team, ensuring a high level of performance and growth within the department.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal financial guidelines, company policies, and relevant legal regulations, maintaining the integrity of financial operations across the business.
About You:
- Qualified Accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent, with proven experience in management accounting, ideally in a multi-site or multi-brand environment (hospitality, retail, or similar sectors).
- Analytical Skills: Highly analytical, with strong numerical and financial management skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Leadership Experience: Prior team management experience, with a focus on mentoring, developing, and inspiring a high-performing team. Experience working with offshore teams is a plus.
- Process Improvement: Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement effective solutions to drive efficiencies.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver complex financial information clearly and effectively to senior management and non-financial stakeholders.
- Strategic Thinking: A curious, strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to ask the right questions to support business success.
- Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
- Client-Focused: A personable and collaborative approach with excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills.
